I thought of this exhibition as a village square, constructed by objects playing not only with the space of exhibition but also in the creative processes involving different external people.
In fact, these objects are the result of an exchange with people : a collaboration with my father, friends, or with other Yvan from Geneva. At the same time they seem to me to be like an attempt at freezing a gesture related to the public space : put some sand in a bottle, hang Polaroids with chewing-gum, place two benches face to face, or block the view from the space with fences.
Most of the viewers can feel excluded. They don’t participate in the creative process, there aren’t titles and the anecdotes behind the works are transmitted only orally through the people of the Kunst(Zeug)Haus or me, and they are deformed progressively through word of mouth.
The only way to have some explanations is through an iPhone charging on the floor. A sound piece in which a woman speaks about the exhibition. It’s a subjective view about it, written four mouths ago before the installation with only some explanations about my project. It results in a kind of speculation about an exhibition in confrontation with the actual exhibition. And informations is transmitted orally like a village square.
